Arif Ozkan was a tradesman in Adapazari city. He had to immigrate to Australia in the Tenkil process. He died in Sydney, Australia, where he had a heart attack.
Ozkan, known for his generosity and volunteer activities in education, had to leave Turkey after 15 July due to lawsuits against him. He settled in Sydney, Australia; however, Ozkan could not accept the persecution of himself and his loved ones. His exhausted heart could not bear such sorrows any longer, and he died abroad at the age of 69. He was buried at Kembla Grange Cemetery in Wollongong, Australia. Ozkan was the first immigrant to come to Australia in the Tenkil process and died.
Seeking asylum in Australia, Ozkan died far from his homeland with brokenheartedness. Ozkan had been staying at his son-in-law’s house with his wife for about four years. He gave his last breath, longing for his children since his family members spread to different countries, including Turkey.
THE DAY BEFORE HIS DEATH, HE TALKED ABOUT “THE DEATH AND BEYOND”
Ozkan and his wife had visited their family friends living in Adelaide city a week ago. According to Zaman Australia’s news, Mustafa Erdil, a family friend, said the following about Ozkan: “We had a son-father relationship with our late Arif Brother rather than a family friend-relationship. I hosted him in my house until the day of his death. I witnessed that he never missed a night prayer and that he always had the Quran in his hand, living in a spiritual dimension. During his visit, our discussions were always about ‘Life after death’. He was talking about the life in the grave and the situation after the life in the grave. We even read ‘Heart Life’, by Prof. Dr Abdulhakim Yuce, together.”
Erdil said, “We had propounded together the answers to questions, such as how the angels greet us in the grave at the last breath and how the everlasting life will be. We went somewhere in the city to watch the sunset shortly before his death. He said that moment, ‘One more day disappeared from our lives,’ and prayed that he would not leave the Qur’an and the Hizmet (Serving the Humanity) until the last moment of his breath.”
