Deaths of Illnes

Thousands of people lost their physical and mental health as a result of detention, arrest and suspension decisions, isolation from society, and social genocide during the deprivation process. The most painful casualties were those of the sick prisoners and their families. Those who became seriously ill in prison were not treated. Treatment of diseases such as cancer and Corona and evacuations were delayed. People were literally doomed to death and disease.

Brigadier General Yavuz Ekrem Arslan was the Commander of the Manisa 1st Infantry Training Brigade. Just after the July 15, he interrupted his vacation and ordered not a single soldier to go out. Despite all his efforts he was expelled by a decree-law. Because of the injustices he suffered, he became ill in prison and he died soon after.

Ekici, who was labeled a ‘terrorist’, fell into the grip of social and psychological pressure. He died of ‘liver cancer’ as a result of his troubles.

Yahya Ozcan was working at Bursagaz A.Ş, a subordinate of Bursa Municipality. After July 15, AKP municipalities started to dismiss people they saw as opposition. Yahya Ozcan was also one of the names put to the target. The chemist, who was depressed due to the financial and moral difficulties he experienced, died of a heart attack.
