Deaths of Illnes

Thousands of people lost their physical and mental health as a result of detention, arrest and suspension decisions, isolation from society, and social genocide during the deprivation process. The most painful casualties were those of the sick prisoners and their families. Those who became seriously ill in prison were not treated. Treatment of diseases such as cancer and Corona and evacuations were delayed. People were literally doomed to death and disease.

Chief Inspector of the EGM Inspection Board, Dr. Oguz Karakus, was unlawfully pensioned off in April 2015. He was arrested 3 months before 15 July and released a year later. Because of the sadness he experienced, he contracted cancer. Unable to receive treatment, Karakus’s condition worsened and he passed away on May 17, 2018.

Oktay Yigit, while working as the Director of National Education of Adiyaman Tut District, was dismissed from his post during the State of Emergency process. Then he was detained for 1 year with a witness statement. He was released on December 2017. However, Yigit could not bear the sadness he experienced any longer and died on February 28.
