The National Intelligence Agency (MIT) was previously trying to invent a certain cover when abducting people from abroad. This time, the government abducted a teacher named Mehmet Gelen from Azerbaijan right in the middle of the street. Mehmet Gelen, who was teaching in Azerbaijan, was abducted in the middle of the street and taken to Turkey.

THE TURKISH EMBASSY HAS NOT COMPLETED THE PASARPORT TRANSACTIONS

Mehmet Gelen, who was left without documents due to the fact that passport procedures were not carried out at the Turkish Embassy, was stopped trying to go to Belarus and had to return to Azerbaijan.Because of this attempt, Mehmet Gelen, who was brought before the prosecutor and given a statement, was released. At the exit of the courthouse, Mehmet Gelan suddenly disappeared from sight. Despite his wife’s cries for help via social media, the young teacher could not be reached. Later, it turned out that Mehmet Gelen was abducted at the exit of the courthouse.

HIS FAMILY WAS NOT INFORMED, HE WAS ABDUCTED TO ANKARA

Applications made by his family and lawyers stated that Gelen was missing. However, it turned out that Mehmet Gelen was brought to Ankara in the evening. It was learned that Gelen is located in the Ankara Anti-Terrorism Branch Directorate.

HIS WIFE WAILED ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Gelen’s wife asked in front of the court, “which car are you the one who kidnapped my wife?” he wailed helplessly. Recently, Turkey smuggled Hizmet Movement members from countries such as Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Albania, Malaysia and illegally brought them to Turkey. However, in all of these incidents, the local authorities were the first to detain the abducted persons and hand them over to the Turkish authorities. In the Gelen incident that happened, this method was also not followed and a person was abducted abroad, moreover, directly in the middle of the street.

HIS LAWYER TOLD ABOUT THE ABDUCTION

Emil Gurbanov, who acted as Gelen’s lawyer during the process, spoke about the issue as follows: “It was decided that Mehmet Gelen should be released by the upper court. However, in fact, this decision was not a release, but a gift to Suleyman Soylu to ‘take a person with him’.” 

Gurbanov also stated that similar abductions had been planned in Azerbaijan in the past. “In the past, the United Nations intervened and took down the abductees from the plane. But now they see their work more cautiously. There was no way we could have seen him being abducted through the back door. That’s why we don’t know the time,” he shared the details of the events. Gurbanov, who said that it was a formality for the court to release Gelen, also noted that this was done in order not to receive punishment from the European Court of Human Rights in the future. 

Lawyer Gurbanov called all the contact numbers of the United Nations at the time of the incident. However, no one was on their phone. Days after Gelen’s abduction, on January 4, 2019, information appeared in the press that he had been brought to the Ankara Courthouse by MIT after his transactions at the Anti-Terrorism Branch of the Ankara Police Department. The news reports included information that Gelen was arrested by the Sentry Magistrate’s Office, where he was sent to testify to the Public Prosecutor Adem Akinci, who is conducting the investigation, and then requested to be arrested.
