Halil Münir was 3 years old. The boat they boarded with her mother, father and brother, who were left unemployed by a decree, capsized in Meriç. The bodies of little Halil and his brother were taken from the river a day later.
Turkish teacher Ayşe Abdurrezzak, who was expelled by decree-law(KHK), was caught to the cold waters of Meriç when their boats capsized with 8 people who wanted to cross to Greece. The incident was heard after a woman on the boat capsized in the military forbidden zone shouting “Save my child” in Turkish. The lifeless bodies of (37) year old Teacher Ayşe (Söyler) Abdurrezzak, who were dismissed by the number 657 decree-law, were found on the same day, and the dead bodies of their children (3) year old Halil Münir and (11) year old Abdülkadir Enes on February 13, 2018. The lifeless body of father Uğur Abdürrezzak could not be found. Uğur Abdurrezzak, who was among those who lost their lives and who was the husband of Ayşe Abdurrezzak, was also a teacher, was dismissed by decree, was released in January 2018 after being detained in Izmit Kandıra Prison for (11) months, and was dismissed by decree just like his wife. It was learned that he had difficulty finding a job for himself.
