After Akman’s daughter was purged by the Decree-Law, his son-in-law was expelled from ASELSAN *, one of the most prestigious institutions in Turkey. After July 15, his daughter and son-in-law were among the hundreds of thousands who were unjustly detained. While Akman was happy that his daughter was released with judicial control, he regretted that his son-in-law was arrested.
He felt sorry for the arrest of his son-in-law, the victimization of his daughter and two young grandchildren, and many victims like them. Akman died of a heart attack on December 29, 2016.
