While Fatime Kasap’s two sons were imprisoned, her cancer patient husband was in intensive care. Her last days were spent with sadness because of her family’s problems. The old woman passed away with longing for her children. Sebahattin Kasap, former national wrestler, and Ali Kasap, orthopaedist, who were imprisoned by the regime, were not allowed to attend their mothers’ funerals.
Although it was regulated in Article 116 of the Execution Law that “up to 2 days outside the road time” could be allowed, Sebahattin Kasap and Ali Kasap were not allowed to be in the cemetery. Although it is imperative for a Muslim to attend his mother’s funeral, the regime did not allow Sebahattin Kasap and Ali Kasap to participate in their mother’s funeral prayer.
