During the Tenkil process, many police officers, soldiers, and civil servants got depressed with the thought that they were subjected to injustice and committed suicide. Pressure from work and family circles and hate crime were among the reasons to cause this end.
However, these suspicious suicide cases that took place immediately after 15 July were not unveiled. Notably, the incidents of suicide on duty and in sceptical areas were covered up, and it was not investigated whether it was actually a suicide or not. It was alleged that police officer Ercan Bilici ended his life with a gun in the guard post while on duty at Adakli District Government Office, Bingol. Bilici’s body was sent to his hometown Gaziantep, and he was buried there.
Most of them relatives claim that the detainees are not the kind of people to commit suicide, shedding doubt on the official narrative. However, rumours also show that some of the detainees were killed after being subjected to torture under custody.
