Mehmet Filiz, one of the well-known businessmen in Kayseri, was sentenced to 11 years and three months in prison for alleged membership of a terrorist organization. During Filiz’s detention, her mother, Emine Filiz, died. Mr Filiz, who attended her funeral accompanied by the gendarmerie, performed the funeral prayer with his hands in handcuffs and gendarmerie personals in his arms, holding him firmly.
Although it was regulated in Article 116 of the Execution Law that “up to 2 days outside the road time” could be allowed, regime permitted Mehmet Filiz to be in the cemetery for few hours during the burial.
