Catching cancer at a young age, Cihan Sah Uysal passed away. Uysal, the son of Suleyman Uysal, one of the well-known education volunteers in Izmir, had been receiving cancer treatment for two years. Unfortunately, father Uysal could not attend his son’s funeral.
Uysal passed away in the hospital in Gaziantep. He was buried in Pinarbasi Cemetery after the funeral prayer held after the noon prayer at Bornova Pinarbasi Carsi Mosque, Izmir. His father, Suleyman Uysal, could not attend the funeral prayer because he was abroad due to the witch hunt against the Hizmet Movement. Suleyman Uysal watched the funeral from the broadcast over the Periscope.
Cihan Sah Uysal was sent off from the mosque where his father used to be an Imam. At the request of his father, the funeral prayer was performed by Prof. Dr Davuz Ayduz. Mr Ayduz, asking the congregation his blessing during the funeral prayer (which is a custom in Islam), said, “Everyone knows why his father could not attend the funeral prayer. It is unnecessary to mention here. At the request of his father, I lead the funeral prayer as his co-in-laws.”. Uysal’s funeral was carried on the shoulders of thousands of people to the cemetery with takbirs (the Arabic phrase ʾAllāhu ʾakbar, meaning `Allah is the greatest`). Uysal was buried in Pinarbasi cemetery with prayers.
Cihan Sah Uysal’s father, Suleyman Uysal, inferred his son’s death as the “wedding day”. He said, “Allah gave him, Allah took him back. Death takes the souls from the young or old ones. When the time comes, everyone goes to their Almighty. My son’s time given was this much only. I am pleased with everything that comes from Allah.” said. Stating that he received condolence messages and phone calls from all over the world; father Uysal said, “The number of Surah-al-Yasin only read in Nigeria is 7,000. Thousands are praying all over the world. I am very pleased.”. He was constantly having dhikr / invocation (remembrance of Allah by saying Allah or Subhanallah or La Ilahe Illallah or Elhamdulillah etc.). Cihan Sah Uysal had been receiving cancer treatment for about two years.
Suleyman Uysal mentioned that his son never neglected his Salat al-Awwabin (which is performed right after Salat al-Maghrib) and Salat al-Tahajjuds (which is performed between midnight and Salat al-Fajr) even for a day: “He stayed in the hospital for two years. His mother was with him. She said that he did not miss any of his prayers for two years. He was praying even in the intensive care unit. He never missed awwabin prayers or tahajjud prayers. His mother says, ‘He didn’t even say ‘uff’. He had a clicker counter in his hand. He has constantly had dhikr in his tongue.”
