Burak Acikalin, who worked as an Engineer in the Intelligence Department of the General Directorate of Police, was detained and arrested after July 15. He was found dead in the Kirikkale Hacılar F-Type Prison, where he was detained, on November 8, 2016, in the ward where he was staying. Prison officials informed that he had committed suicide, but Acikalin’s family claimed that their son had traces of torture on his body and that he may have suffered internal bleeding as a result of torture. The family stated that tortures were brought to the prison from the outside, there were witnesses about this, and therefore their children may have been killed by torture with the pretense of suicide. However, there has been no effective investigation into Acikalin’s death.
