Former Zaman Newspaper employee Bahattin Bican, who had to seek shelter in exile abroad in the Tenkil process after July 15, first went to Sweden after leaving Turkey. Later on, Bican went to Germany to seek political asylum. However, Germany deported Bican to Sweden on March 3, 2020, under the Dublin Regulations *. Returning to Sweden, Bican was placed in a refugee camp; however, he caught Covid-19 there with experiencing severe breathing difficulties. He was then taken to intensive care on March 21, 2020. Despite all the interventions, Bican lost his life abroad, far from his family.
