Ayse Afra Koca was a very successful medical student. She was accepted to Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, and wearing the white coat as a doctor adorned her dreams. However, the Erdogan regime turned the young medical student’s life upside down during the Tenkil Process. She was devastated for her imprisoned father, could not cope with the injustice and persecution of her father, Ali Koca, a teacher, and wanted her father by her side. Ayse Afra, a 21-year-old medical student, couldn’t see her father for months because she got cancer after a while. Finally, her father was able to see her for the last time the day before her daughter’s death, and then she was sent back to prison by the long arms of the regime without waiting a second. Ayse Afra Koca, who dreamed of wearing the white coat as a doctor, passed away from this filthy world in the morning on September 12, 2020.
Koca was buried in Bucak, Burdur, in tears. The handcuffs of father Ali Koca, who was brought from Denizli T Type Prison to attend his daughter’s funeral, were not opened during the funeral prayer. HDP Kocaeli Deputy Omer Faruk Gergerlioglu shared on Twitter, “Prisoner Ali Koca’s handcuffs were not removed at the funeral of his daughter Ayse Koca, who died of cancer at a young age today. Will he run away at the funeral! Rest in peace, Ayse Koca. Give his father patience.”.
