The chief of the police, dismissed from the profession with the Decree-Law, passed away in a refugee camp in Germany. Unlu, one of over 150,000 people who have lost their jobs over alleged ties to the Hizmet movement, escaped a further crackdown in Turkey to Germany.
Unlu was dismissed from his job during the State of Emergency after 15 July. He sadly died in Germany. Unlu, 42, who had to flee abroad after being expelled, died of a heart attack in Stuttgart. His body was brought to Turkey and buried in his hometown in Kaymakli, Nevsehir. His family placed his uniform on his coffin, which was removed forcibly, at the funeral.
