Abdulhafiz Filiz was dismissed from his duty with the Decree-Law dated October 29, 2016, after the regime declared the State of Emergency in Turkey. He passed away on September 4, 2017, due to a heart attack. While he was a civil servant at Diyarbakir Selahattin Eyyubi State Hospital, his 38-year career was terminated with a Decree-Law. Fighting all kinds of legal struggles to return to his job, Filiz tried to reach out to everyone persecuted by the Decree-Law. The Commission for the Examination of Proceedings Under the State of Emergency has rejected the application of Filiz and he lost weight due to the sadness. At the same time, Filiz, who had a lung disease, could not cope with what he encountered and died of a heart attack at the age of 63. Filiz’s body was buried in Yenikoy Cemetery, Diyarbakir.
