Gulcan Araci was a primary school teacher who was first purged from her profession with the Decree-Law, and later, her husband was arrested. Such disasters followed cancer. She passed away without being able to see her detained husband for the last time. Mrs Araci left behind three tearful little children. 

Gulcan Araci was forcibly taken into custody, as if it were not enough to fight cancer in her hospital bed. The regime did not give her the opportunity to meet with her imprisoned husband for the last time, and the young woman died, leaving behind three tearful children aged 3, 6 and 10. Mrs Araci shared with her loved ones on her social media account: “How much I missed smiling”.
