Biography

One of the most striking events of July 15 was the detention and arrest of nearly 3,000 judges and prosecutors that night. Lale Yildiz, the judge of Bakirkoy 13th Criminal Court, was one of the arrestees. She was first suspended on the grounds that she was a member of a terrorist organization, and then she was reinstated. Yildiz lost her life as a result of a heart attack, which she suffered under sadness and stress.

During the early hours of July 16, the next day after the so-called coup, nearly 3,000 judges and prosecutors were detained and arrested. In order to pave the way for the unlawfulness that the regime will commit after the coup, they put the members of the judiciary, which they thought could prevent the illegalities, on the target board. They detained and arrested all lawyers and judges, Gulenist or not, who were truthful and would only take orders from the law and not consider the government’s orders above the law.

Pro-Ataturk Lale Yildiz, the judge of Bakirkoy 13th Criminal Court of First Instance, was one of these names. Yildiz was suspended on July 16 for allegedly being a member of a terrorist organization. In the indictment prepared a year later (June 2017) and it was claimed that she downloaded and used ByLock. ByLock was a simple correspondence application downloaded to phones by anyone in the world, like Whatsapp or Viber.

The young judge, who was taken into custody, was reinstated on December 27 2017, after the ByLock allegations against her were withdrawn, and she was told ‘pardon`. But the process had worn out Yildiz a lot. She used to say to her relatives, ‘I am very offended; my wound is not scabbing’. Lale Yildiz, who could not bear what she went through, died as a result of a heart attack. Yildiz was buried in his hometown, Corum.

“Pro-Ataturk judge Lale Yildiz of Bakirkoy District, you all know her, who was dismissed due to FETO charges and reinstated after having understood that she was one of the victims of “Purple Brain”, is no longer with us. Her heart could just make it till here. Rest in peace my dear sister” judge Nuh Huseyin Kose tweeted on May 22 2019.
