Ilyas Yildirim, who had Monophobia, was arrested in Karabuk. Yildirim was kept in a ward alone for 28 months despite his illness being known. Unfortunately, he was released too late and died shortly after his release.
Yildirim’s lawyer stated that Yildirim’s health was not up to the mark while he was in the cell and added: “His psychology was severe because he was alone. Due to psychological distress, contractions began in his hands. I wrote a petition to many places, but I could not get him out of there. Yildirim is kept in a single-person ward.” His lawyer asked the authorities for help; however, his request was refused. Yildirim, diagnosed with skin cancer in prison, was released when his condition worsened. He died in the hospital.
