Hatice Memis’s son, Ahmet Memis, was an imprisoned journalist in Silivri prison for four years. She died of a heart attack on her son’s birthday.

Hatice Memis, 68, passed away on April 19 on her son’s date of birth. Although her family filed a petition so that Ahmet Memis could see his mother for the last time and attend her funeral, the Prosecutor’s Office did not give permission, as it did to many Hizmet movement members, naming the virus outbreak. Hatice Memis was buried in Eyup Tokmaktepe Cemetery in Istanbul.
